During the previous phases (phase one and two) of the DINA project, a document describing requirements (kravspecifikation) for a common Swedish Natural History Collections management system was prepared, and studies of some available database systems were performed (förstudie). In support of further database assessments,
Specify 6 was installed for use in 2009 at the Entomology Department, NRM, under the Lower Brachycera Digitization Project (
LBDP,
KevinHolston). Additionally, the
Artedian and
Collection Presenter (Sven Kullander) have been used extensively for LBDP digitization at the Zoological Museum, Lund University, and LBDP database presentations from 2007 to 2010.
Effort was put into the specification of a national standard for Natural History Collections,
ENSE coordinated by
GBIF-Sweden. ENSE was to a large extent based on the
DarwinCore standard. ENSE is currently available in version 1. For more information, see the
EnseStandard topic.
