    • Scotland: Edinburgh has signed!
  5. Review of DINA ISC decisions
    • DINA legal entity
    • Fred wrote a draft of letter; want it to be an invitation to promote open source development of CMS, across platforms
      • Falko: What is organization for, exchange of ideas and collaboration, need to be clear that the intent is not to merge systems, should address individuals or the institutions/organizations themselves (simpler)
    • Falko: Free Software Foundation Europe, FSFE ( he talked to the president, based in Berlin
      • recommendation to avoid an association in Germany (bureaucracy-based; German language requirements)
      • alternatives, perhaps go to Netherlands (Naturalis as signing partner?)
      • type of legal entity: not-for-profit association vs foundation, or commercial/business
      • need a strategy, should collect ideas from potential members
      • James: could we be an Interest Group (IG) at TDWG; is bending the IG concept a little?
      • Falko: cannot easily be blanketed by FSFE as a sub-organization, is benefit-based; do have program that promotes publicly funded projects to be open; Public Money, Public Code:
      • Should plan an initial brainstorming session to see what potential participants think about an entity and what the strategy should be
      • deadline Friday 16th April for draft and invitees
    • Falko: Could we get a microgrant from the nlnet Foundation ( for legal expertise to help in establishing DINA legal entity? Falko will investigate.
    • Work on Development Contracts are paused until a legal entity decision is made.
  6. Report from DINA TC
    • Satpal: Will be beginning collaborative integrative code development with MfN in near future.
      • We have had an initial developer focused meeting to talk collaboration at a high level (technologies stacks, JSON API, expectations, etc.).
      • currently meet weekly with MfN on higher level concepts; upon completion will write a manuscript.
    • AAFC currently working on Collection Management Module.
      • Collecting Events mostly completed
      • Material Samples (Physical Entities) concepts introduced to collection managers and working on modeling.
      • Next component will be preparation processes.
    • MfN will contribute "backend" for Transactions and Loans and Templates, Labels and Reports modules.
      • Falko: continuous integration workflows is main focus for MfN.
  7. SPNCH and TDWG meetings
    • SPNHC: James will include DINA SeqDB in his talk.
    • TDWG: Symposia deadline looming; Falko: only have a talk on publication?
      • Propose a workshop related to challenges of legal entities, etc.?
      • Could use TDWG Web Services and Clients IG as a broker?
      • Propose a workshop highlighting physical entities and their relation to DwC/ABCD, etc.?
  8. DINA communication/outreach
    • Falko: presented an example of a computer graphics concept (infographic).
    • Consider generating one for DINA and using this as an outreach tool? Falko can ask contact to see what is possible (everyone liked the idea!).
    • Looked at the Doodly tool for producing simple animations.
    • If DINA AAFC can be made "cloud ready", we can consider marketing "DINA as a service".
    • Could we ask DiSSCo for funds to do this in their next funding stream?
    • Would DiSSCo provide cloud space for DINA for an instance as demo? Falko will pursue.
  9. Partner reports
    • Sweden: Living Atlases platform being released 31st of May.
    • Edinburgh: Migration to Specify is complete but with some data issues. Cybersecurity has downgraded the risk and they have temporarily rolled back to BG base. Currently investigating areas of concern with data migration involving more user testing. They are looking for a person to help with this.
    • Berlin: Using data integration driven by digitization to migrate to Specify. They are increasing training to promote this.
    • AAFC: See above; focused on development of core CMS currently.
  10. Any other business
    • None
  11. Next meeting
